Trois étudiantes et étudiant

The student buddy program helps new international students settle in as soon as they get to Université Laval.

A rewarding intercultural experience

For new international students, partnering with an established Université Laval student is a great way to settle in and get used to life on campus and in Québec as a whole. For student buddies, it is good way to experience cultural diversity.

Note that students are only paired during the fall and winter semesters.

How to join the student buddy program

Eligibility requirements

  • You are starting at Université Laval as a regular or exchange student
  • You want to connect with a Université Laval student who is familiar with the campus and Québec City
  • You want to make arriving and settling in as easy and enjoyable as possible
  • You are unsure how services work in Québec

You will be paired with a student buddy within a few days of arriving in Québec. They will be available for a few hours a week at the start of the semester to help you settle in and find your way around the campus and the city.

Student buddies are assigned based on their availability, and the preferences you give when signing up will be honoured whenever possible. Buddies must have been Université Laval students for at least one semester.

Sign up by September 28 for the fall 2026 semester. Sign-ups open on August 17 and pairings start on August 24.

You are not required to join the reminder list.

As a future student buddy, you must attend an orientation session either online or in person. Sessions take around an hour; in-person sessions are held at the Théâtre de poche, in room 2113 of the Maurice-Pollack building (above the Coop Zone).
